Primary owner confirmation for sync w/ Slack

For adminsUpdated Nov 1, 2026

Why admins need Slack's primary owner to approve the sync before they can edit other admins.

Once you sync OrgaNice fields with Slack, OrgaNice updates people's Slack profiles for you. Slack only lets an app update a profile through someone with enough rights who has signed in to it:

  • When an admin signs in to OrgaNice, it can update that admin's profile and all regular members.
  • When your Slack primary owner signs in, it can update everyone, including other admins and owners.

Until then, the Sync w/ Slack page shows a yellow alert with the members OrgaNice can't update. The same alert can appear on the time off and celebrations settings, for Slack statuses.

Ask the primary owner to sign in

  1. Open Settings › Org Chart › Sync w/ Slack.

  2. In the yellow alert, click Ask … to sign in with your primary owner's name. You can also copy this link from the alert and send it to them yourself.

  3. OrgaNice sends the primary owner a direct message in Slack. They click Approve and sign in.

Result

The alert goes away, and OrgaNice can update everyone's Slack profile, including admins and owners.

Only the primary owner's sign-in covers everyone. If they can't sign in, an admin's sign-in still lets OrgaNice update regular members.
